After seeing this whipped coffee all over social media, I knew I had to try making it. It’s known as Dalgona coffee, originating from South Korea and its surprisingly simple and easy to make – you’ve probably already got everything in your cupboards!
Take a tablespoon of instant coffee, boiling hot water and sugar and put it all in a bowl. Use an electric whisk to whip it up, so that it’s pale in colour and thick and fluffy. This will take about 8 minutes so keep going. You’ll know it’s ready when the mixture starts to form peaks. You don’t have to use an electric whisk if you don’t have one, you can use a regular whisk or even a fork but it’ll take much longer without an electric whisk. I like to enjoy this as an iced coffee so fill a glass with ice and top it up with milk, about three quarters full. I also add a little vanilla coffee syrup to mine for extra flavour. Then spoon over the whipped coffee mixture which will balance on top of the milk and ice .
Admittedly, it’s a little bit of a faff to make it everyday, but it’s a perfect weekend treat.
