I was recently looking for somewhere to go for bottomless brunch and stumbled upon great reviews for Mac & Wild.
There’s two restaurants in London, but the City restaurant is closed on Sundays so I booked a table at 1pm at the Fitzrovia restaurant, just five minutes walk from Oxford Circus. The restaurant is Scottish and has a menu full of traditional ingredients such as haggis, lorne sausage and tattie scones as well as a pretty impressive whisky selection behind the bar although we didn’t sample any on this occasion.
Mac & Wild – What We Ordered
We started by ordering the bottomless prosecco and got cracking on that right away, the staff were really attentive throughout our visit and kept topping up our glasses – we never needed to ask for a refill! This worked out at quite good value at £23 per person considering a glass is about £7.50 each so we definitely had our moneys worth. There’s also a few other options so it’s not just prosecco which is good for people who don’t really like it.
There were lots of great food choices on the menu and the food at both tables next door smelled amazing but considering we were there for brunch we both ordered the crushed avocado on sourdough toast (£9.50) – one of my all time brunch faves – with smoked bacon (+ £2.50). I also asked for a side of tattie scones as my Scottish friend insisted I should get them when I visit! The avocado was delicious and they definitely weren’t stingy with the portion sizes, I liked the addition of the red onion in the avocado mix and the tattie scones went down a treat! We also pushed the boat out and ordered a portion of truffled mushroom mac and cheese (£5.75) after spotting it on the next table which was incredible. A perfect accompaniment to a bottomless brunch!
If that wasn’t enough food, we opted to share the sticky toffee pudding (£7) for dessert which was served with an incredible whisky salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. This dessert was so so good, I really loved the whisky caramel sauce!
