Last weekend, I went home to the countryside which is always nice, not just to see family but to get out of the hustle and bustle of London. I’m originally from Peterborough but spend lots of time in beautiful local market town, Stamford and its not a trip home without a visit to my favourite wine bar called “The Wine Bar” in Stamford!
The Wine Bar has a lovely relaxed atmosphere inside with a beautiful modern bar contrasting with the wooden beams of the traditional building and fairy lights everywhere.
I nearly always order prosecco when I visit, mostly because I love the Chef and Sommelier champagne flutes that the prosecco is served in. On the rare occasion that I don’t order prosecco, I’ll be ordering a gin and tonic as they have the largest gin selection in Stamford and although they serve lots of my favourite gins, the super friendly bar staff are really helpful if you fancy trying something new or a bit different. On this visit, we were very kindly given some bowls of pistachio nuts and crips to nibble on as we had our prosecco.
I feel that a special mention needs to go to the cheese and charcuterie boards that they serve here. Unfortunately I didn’t order one on my recent visit so I don’t have a photo (note to self: need to rectify this immediately) but I can confirm that they’re DIVINE. I love me a bit of cheese, bread and wine and these boards don’t disappoint. All of the food is supplied by the award winning Deli just around the corner (The Stamford Deli) and they also serve sandwiches, snacks and quiches.
The Wine Bar also has a super lovely garden tucked away in the back which is a sun trap in the summer or you can get cosy under blankets and patio heaters in the winter. What’s not to love?
