Every Sunday, a normal East London street turns into a bustling flower market with vibrant colours and flowers. Columbia Road Flower Market is round the corner from popular and edgy Shoreditch and takes place on Sunday mornings from 8am – 2pm. The vendors start setting up from around 4am!
Columbia Road Flower Market:
Normally, my Sunday mornings are spent in bed or lazing round my flat but now and again I’ll set my alarm for a visit to Columbia Road. As it’s popular with tourists, it’s best to get here early to avoid the crowds. I recommend arriving before 10am.
Have a wander down the centre to browse at the stalls but don’t forget about the shops on the street behind the stalls. There are some amazing shops filled with unique and different items for your home. There’s also a selection of coffee shops and buskers playing on the street giving it an amazing atmosphere.
You’re looking to pay around £15-£20 for a large, mixed bouquet of flowers but you can pick up a small bunch for as little as £5! All of the flowers are really fresh and I find that they last a good week.
Stopping off for a coffee and some cake is a must after browsing all of the stalls. Especially after an early start! My favourite spot is The Lily Vanilli Bakery and Flour Market. It’s tucked away in a little courtyard just off Columbia Road but quite easy to find. It does incredible hot chocolates and cakes, but I also love the decor – it’s a plant lovers paradise.
