I recently went to Zakynthos (one of the beautiful Greek Islands) for a week away in the sun.
Initially when I first think of Zante, my mind immediately goes to the party town but the rest of the Island is quiet and peaceful. It was perfect to get out of London and relax for a week.
We stayed at the Atlantica Eleon Grand Resort and Spa which was on the north east side of the island, right on the beach just outside of Tsilvi. Our room was beautiful: a balcony with a garden view, a huge bed and a beautiful bathroom. The hotel had several different swimming pools, a private beach, water slides, a gym and a spa.
We were away for 7 days, although I’d have quite liked to’ve stay longer- time just goes so quickly! We booked an all inclusive package so all of our meals, snacks and drinks are included in the main price. This is great as there’s an endless supply of iced coffees, strawberry daiquiris and ice creams! The buffet selections are huge so there is always loads of choice but my favourite was the local greek food.
Tsilivi Town:
Although we were all-inclusive, we decided to go for dinner in the local town to explore. Tsilivi is a five minute taxi ride from our hotel and we had a delicious meal at the newly opened Elia Restaurant. To start, we ordered some tzatziki with some greek flatbread. FYI- this is WAY better than the pitta breads we have in the UK. Then we both ordered the chicken souvlaki which was delicious! It arrives on a huge skewer and is served with chips and more tzatziki.
Turtle Island Trip:
We took a day trip out to turtle island which is at the south of Zakynthos and its famous for nesting turtles. Turtles are endangered so it’s really interesting to hear about how we should be protecting these incredible creatures.
We spent the whole day on a boat where we sailed to Turtle island and stopped off now and again to take a swim in the sea.
This was definitely one of the highlights of the whole holiday- the sea is a beautiful green colour and crystal clear. We explored caves, snorkelled, swam with the fishes and chilled on the boat for a day so it was bliss!
What I Wore in Zakynthos:
My beautiful black lattice swimsuit (pictured above) is from Figleaves.
A summer holiday isn’t complete without a white dress and mine (pictured below) is from Zara.
The red floral dress (pictured above) is from Topshop.
I love these Topshop beautiful black sandals and wore them everyday. Also, they look great with my Topshop floral bag.
Unfortunately we didn’t make it to Shipwreck Bay but maybe we’ll go back in a couple of years!
So have you been to Zakynthos before and what did you think?
