Recently, brunching has become really popular and although it’s not the cheapest, it’s a lovely treat for a special occasion. A couple of weeks ago, I went for brunch at Bourne & Hollingsworth with some friends. I’d heard great things about this place (Insta) so it’s been high on my list for a while.
We had to book about 6 weeks in advance and even then, we could only get a table for 2pm so it’s clearly a popular venue but the wait was definitely worth it. Based in Islington, a short walk from Angel tube station, Bourne & Hollingsworth is quite tucked away making it perfect for a spot of brunch on a Sunday
After waiting at the bar for five minutes while the staff got our table ready, we pondered the menu; there’s a great mix of healthy options and some “treat yourself” choices available too. The restaurant is really airy, bright and spacious and I loved all of the greenery dotted around- I’m just a sucker for cacti and cheese plants! We were given a lovely table and I felt chilled out from the moment we arrived. Bourne and Hollingsworth are definitely channelling the cosy greenhouse/conservatory vibe and I loved it- it definitely helped that it’s incredibly instagrammable too.
What we ordered:
The boys ordered the B&H breakfast- essentially a full English- which looked incredible. To drink, they had a pot of tea and freshly squeezed orange juice. Us girls ordered maple bacon drop scones (basically pancakes) and poached eggs Royale with smoked salmon. We didn’t order the bottomless brunch, but treated ourselves to a glass of Prosecco each! The bottomless brunch was clearly a popular choice as the Bellini’s were flowing around us. The food was delicious, although I thought the portions could’ve been bigger but maybe we were just all really hungry. The service was great and I thought the prices were reasonable too.
Overall, the food was great and I loved the relaxing environment. I’d go back in a heartbeat but I’ll need to book soon!
