Baking a Gingerbread House:
Over the Christmas holidays, I built a Gingerbread house from scratch. I made one back in 2014 and decided to attempt the challenge again!
To bake the gingerbread, I used a recipe from the Queen of Baking- Mary Berry which can be accessed >> here <<. This recipe is super easy follow and even comes with all the templates you will need to build your house.
The icing in the recipe acts like a cement and will hold the walls together because it sets rock solid so it won’t fall down. Don’t worry if you don’t like the flavour of lemon; you can’t taste it. The fun bit is decorating your house! I used chocolate buttons for the roofs tiles and piped around the windows although I must admit that my piping skills aren’t the best.
In 2014, I used Mary Berry’s templates to build the house but this year I decided to challenge myself by creating my own templates; I modelled my creation on my parents house instead.
If you’re not up to making the full house, why not give these >> simple gingerbread biscuits << a go instead?
I definitely recommend that you give this gingerbread house a go, not only does it look amazing but it tastes pretty great too.
